About Weezat

What is Weezat?

Weezat is a socialising service for going out in London with your friends. Weezat allows you to discover the best venues in London, communicate your location to multiple friends at any time and plan events with your mates. It’s a totally free service for users and we’ll even reward you for adding content to pubs and bars on the site with prizes each month. For more information, view how to use Weezat.

How does Weezat work?

Weezat is all about getting social. We bring friends together by offering a service that’s useful, accurate and fun.

The site is split into two: a comprehensive listings database of pubs and bars and a powerful mobile socialising service and website that allows users to communicate their location to their friends and venues to inform users of what’s happening in their favourite areas.

We work with venues across London to make sure our service is as accurate as possible and that what we list as being there (e.g. beer garden, real ales etc) actually is. Rather than using a 3rd party database, we source all of the content on our website ourselves, giving us more accuracy and flexibility over other sites.

Our unique SMS location based service can be used by anyone with any make or model of mobile phone. You don’t need the latest fancy mobile or GPS device. If you can send a text message, you can use Weezat!

For more information on how to use the service, read how to use Weezat.

Why is Weezat different to other review sites and social networks?

We think social networks should be about socialising with your actual friends and not a competition to see how many ‘friends’ you can acquire. After receiving one too many zombie attacks and virtual gifts, we decided to create a platform that was more about the real world and less about sitting in front of a computer screen.

So, on Weezat we do things a little differently. We don’t believe that anyone can have 500 real friends. Sure, you might have met that many people in your lifetime or have ‘friends’ from work on your social networks, but are they really your close friends?

Weezat is all about letting your closest friends know where you are and what you’re doing, which is why we limit your account to a maximum of 50 friends. These are the people that you trust, have a close relationship with and see on a regular basis. The sort of people that no matter where you were or what you were doing, you’d happily invite them to join you for a few drinks, no matter who you were with or where you were.

Would you really want that person you used to know at school (but never really liked...) seeing where you were or where you’re going? Nope, didn’t think so.

How much does Weezat cost to use?

Weezat is a totally free service for users - we don't charge you for anything. The only cost you will incur is that of your mobile service provider for sending a text message to us. So if you get free texts with your service plan then it won’t cost you a penny.

If you don’t get free texts, it will cost you the standard price of a single text message each time you send a Weezat from your mobile or complete a venue search from your mobile. So, one text message to us and we do the rest at absolutely no cost to you.

How can I find out more?

For more information on how to use the service, read how to use Weezat or get in touch with us directly.

Mobile Service

Why do you need my mobile number?

We need your mobile number to allow you to get the most out of Weezat.

If you want to inform friends of where you are and what you’re up to, we’ll need your mobile number to identify who you are when you send a Weezat.

We also need your mobile number so that when you perform a search for a specific venue, facility or ratings category that you’re looking for, we know which phone to send the results to.

You can always change your mobile preferences by logging in to your account.

What’s a ‘Weezat’?

Every time you want to tell your friends which venue you’re in, you’ll need to send a Weezat. You can do this from any computer by clicking on the ‘Weezat’ button from within any venue search results page, from a venue profile or by texting us the details of that particular venue. For example, if you were in the Queen’s Head pub in Angel, you would text us ‘@ queens head N1’. This would then register on our system and be communicated to each of your friends within your Weezat network.

For more information, check out how to use Weezat.

What handsets work with Weezat?

If you have a mobile phone that can send text messages, you can use Weezat. Easy huh?

How does Weezat work on my mobile?

View the how to use Weezat section of the website to learn about all the cool stuff you can do using our service.

What sort of things can I search for on my mobile?

Weezat wants to help you find the best venues to match your needs. Looking for somewhere with a late licence? No problem. Or how about the best place to go on a first date? We’ve got it covered.

Using Weezat, you can search for venues by:

-       Name
-       Location

-       Facility type (eg. beer garden, TV, food)

-       Ratings category (eg. flirting, value, service)

For a complete list of all the things you can search for, view how to use Weezat to learn about all the cool stuff you can do using our service.

How do I search for things on my mobile?

Pretty much in the same way as searching online, but you’ll only get one search result back from our system.

See What's the best way of searching for venues on Weezat? below for more information.

View the how to use Weezat section of the website to learn about how you can search for things using our service when you’re out and about.

How much does it cost to use Weezat on my mobile?

Weezat is a totally free service for users - we don't charge you anything.

We send messages to all of the friends on your network for free! So, one text message to us and we do the rest at absolutely no cost to you.

I’ve tried using the Weezat service on my mobile and it’s not working. What should I do?

Firstly, check that you have the SMS settings turned on in the ‘preferences’ section of the ‘profile’ tab of your Weezat home page and that we have the right mobile number registered on our system. If all of that looks ok then make sure you’ve confirmed your mobile number with us by replying ‘yes’ to the number you received when you first registered with Weezat.

If you haven’t yet registered your mobile number with us then login to your account, go to the ‘profile’ tab within your Weezat home page, and add your number under the ‘general’ tab. Follow the instructions on screen for more information.

If all of that fails, get in touch with us directly and we’ll be happy to help.

What’s a nudge?

Although Weezat is all about connecting friends with friends we also think it’s great to meet new people. You can search for people in the areas you like going out in and drop them a nudge. We’ll let the recipient see your profile for 7 days and you can decide whether or not to meet up. We’ll even send your nudge via SMS! You can nudge someone from user search results or a user’s home page.

Ratings, Points & Prizes

What are Weezat ratings?

We want Weezat to be the most up to date and accurate service of its kind. In order to achieve this, we give users a reason to leave feedback whether it’s good or bad.

We’re in the process of building a system that will reward you for doing all kinds of things but for now, the top rater each month will win a £200 bar tab at a pub or bar of their choice.

Our ratings are different to most sites too. As ratings get older over time they become less important. So if you rate a venue today, it will have more weighting to a venue’s overall rating score than a rating you left 12 months ago. This ensures that the rating score you see for a venue is accurate and that venues that get poor ratings have a chance to improve and get better ratings in the future.

What do I get for leaving a rating?

You can learn more about what you get for rating venues by checking out the Weezat leaderboard.

What about reviews?

When you rate a venue, you can also leave a review about your experiences there. Keep it short and sweet – nobody needs to know whose birthday it was when you went or whether you had still or sparkling water with your meal. Just tell us what was good/bad about the place and get on with the rest of your day. When you’re leaving reviews, please bear in mind the Weezat Content Standards.

Why should I leave a rating?

The more ratings you add, the better Weezat will become and the more prizes you’ll be able to win. Ratings will help your friends and other Weezat users enjoy better real-life social experiences by telling others about where the best venues are and where the places to avoid are too. If a venue repeatedly gets bad ratings, we remove them from the website.

You can view more reasons to leave ratings on the Weezat leaderboard.

How are Weezat ratings different to other sites?

Our ratings are different to most sites too. As ratings get older over time they become less important. So if you rate a venue today, it will have more weighting to a venue’s overall rating score than a rating you left 12 months ago. This ensures that the rating score you see for a venue is accurate and that venues that get poor ratings have a chance to improve and get better ratings in the future.

What can I rate?

You can rate any venue that’s on the Weezat website. If you want to rate a venue that isn’t on Weezat then let us know about it.

What can I win?

Each month we give away cool prizes from our fabulous sponsors including free drinks, iPhones, short holiday breaks, iTunes vouchers and loads more. The prizes we give away change every month but to view the prizes on at the moment, view the Weezat leaderboard.

How often do you award prizes?

We give away prizes at the beginning of every month and put the top raters in the spotlight by including them in our Weezat Hall of Fame.

Images

How many images can I upload to Weezat?

You can upload 1 image to your user profile. Sorry, we’re not Facebook or Flickr and are offering something a little different. We’ll leave the photo galleries to them for now… You can change your image as often as you like though.

Can I upload images to a venue profile?

No, for now you can just upload images to your profile page. This allows our venue information to remain as accurate as possible and keeps things nice and tidy. If you want to send us a photo of a venue, use the 'Feedback' tab you see on any page of the site.

Venues

How many venues are listed on Weezat?

There are more than 4,000 venues listed on our service. We regularly check our database to make sure it’s up to date and accurate and with your help we can keep it that way. If you know of a venue that’s on our website and has closed down, changed name or has new facilities that aren’t listed on our site then please let us know.

What types of venues are on Weezat?

Our service is predominantly made up of pubs and bars although there are a few clubs and restaurants on there too. If you know of a venue that’s on our website and has closed down, changed name or has new facilities that aren’t listed on our site then please let us know.

I can’t find a venue i’m looking for – how do I add it to Weezat?

If you know of a venue that’s not on Weezat and you’d like to add it then drop us a line and we’ll reward you with bonus points.

Why do you only have pubs and bars on Weezat?

We want to be good at what we do and keep the data as accurate as possible so we’ve started out just doing pubs and bars. We think it’s better to be great at something rather than average at lots of things so, as we get bigger, we’ll start adding other venue types that you might like to see on Weezat.

We always like to hear of new ideas so let us know if you have any suggestions.

How do i add a venue as a favourite?

You can add any venue on our service as a favourite by clicking ‘add as favourite’ on any venue from a search results page or venue profile page.

How do I remove a venue from my favourites?

You can remove any venue from your favourites by clicking ‘remove as favourite’ on any venue from a search results page or venue profile page, or from the ‘venues’ tab of your Weezat home page.

How do I tell my friends I’m going to a particular venue?

Every time you want to tell your friends which venue you’re in or going to be in, you’ll need to send a Weezat. You can do this from any computer by clicking on the ‘Weezat’ button from within any venue search results page, from a venue profile, from the ‘venues’ tab of your Weezat home page or by texting us the details of that particular venue. For example, if you were in the Queen’s Head pub in Angel, you would text us ‘@ queens head N1’. This would then register on our system and be communicated to each of your friends within your Weezat network.

Planning future events is best done online.

For more information, check out the Weezat instructions.

How do you keep your information accurate?

We keep our information accurate by updating ourselves on a regular basis. The Weezat Crew is spread across the capital, keeping an eye on the venues in their areas and alerting us of any changes or updates. Want to get involved? Become part of the Weezat Crew and join the team.

What facilities do you list on Weezat?

We list the following facilities on Weezat and any of these can be searched for online or from your mobile:-

What are ratings categories on Weezat?

We have a unique list of ratings categories that are both useful and fun. You can search for and find the best places to go according to any of our ratings categories by searching for them online or from your mobile.

Our ratings categories cover:

-       Drinks

-       Food

-       Music

-       Service

-       Dancing

-       Sport

-       Flirting

-       Romance

-       Value

-       Overall

What’s the best way of searching for venues on Weezat?

There are lots of ways of searching for venues on Weezat, but you’ll get the best results by combining a geographic area (by postcode (eg. ‘EC1’/’EC1R’) or name (eg. ‘Clerkenwell’)) with either the name of the venue (if you know it), a facility type (eg. ‘beer garden’ or ‘Sky Sports’) or a ratings category that you’re most interested in (eg. ‘food’ or ‘romance’).

So, if you want to find somewhere to watch tonight’s big game on TV and you’re in Clerkenwell, you could do a search for ‘Sky sports EC1’ (or ‘Sky sports Clerkenwell’) and the service will return venues in Clerkenwell which have Sky Sports listed as a facility, presented in order of their overall ratings.

If you’re after somewhere you can dance the night away in Clapham, try searching for ‘dancing Clapham’ and Weezat will tell you which venues in Clapham score best with users on this rating category.

You can change the order results are presented using the drop-down menu and can use the filters shown to get more specific (eg. if you only want to see places that also serve food or have outside seating as well).

Hopefully you get the idea…..have a play with it and you’ll soon get a feel for what works best for you.

Events & Weezats

What are Weezats?

Every time you want to tell your friends which venue you’re in, you’ll need to send a Weezat. You can do this from any computer by clicking on the ‘Weezat’ button from within any venue search results page, from a venue profile or by texting us the details of that particular venue. For example, if you were in the Queen’s Head pub in Angel, you would text us ‘@ queens head N1’. This would then register on our system and be communicated to each of your friends within your Weezat network.

For more information, check out how to use Weezat.

What are events?

Events are used very seldom on Weezat. We've added them to the site so that you can create events way into the future but you'll probably just stick to using Weezat's seeing as they're more fun and can be associated with a venue.

What's the difference between events and Weezats?

Events can be added from within your 'events' tab only. These are things like birthdays or celebrations that you might want to let your friends know about. These events can't be associated with a venue and generally for things that are happening way into the future.

Weezat's are much more fun! You can send a Weezat from any venue profile page, any search results page and also from your mobile while you're out and about. Weezat's are about telling your friend where it's at and what you're up to now or are planning to do in the very near future. Find out how to use Weezat in more detail.

How do I edit/cancel an event or Weezat?

Simply click on an existing event from your calendar or from a venue calendar and edit or delete the event accordingly.

Who will see my events/Weezats?

This depends on how you set your preferences when you register with us. You can edit the this information in your 'profile' tab by going to 'preferences'.

Community Guidelines

If I see an offensive review how do I report it?

You can report anything offensive on the site to us directly or by using the feedback tool which appears on every part of the site. We treat offensive material very seriously and will take appropriate action where we find any breach of the Weezat Acceptable Use Policy.

Why was my review removed from Weezat?

We will remove any review from Weezat that we deem to be offensive. Take a look at the Weezat Content Standards for more information.

I can’t see my review online, why not?

If you can’t see your review online then it’s possible that it’s been removed because it was deemed offensive (or for some other reason). If you don’t think your review was offensive or otherwise in breach of the Weezat Content Standards then get in touch with us and we’ll add it for you.

I think somebody that owns a venue might be leaving positive ratings about themselves. How do I report it?

You can report anything suspicious to us directly. We treat any improper use of Weezat seriously and will take appropriate action where we find any breach of the Weezat Acceptable Use Policy.

Friends

How do I find friends on Weezat?

Simply search for friends by selecting the ‘people’ tab above the search bar, typing in their name and clicking ‘search’. You can add anybody as a ‘friend’ or ‘top friend’ by selecting the appropriate button next to their profile. Anyone you add as a friend will be informed via email that you’ve requested to be friends and will be able to accept or reject your request once they’ve logged in.

Why is my account limited to only 50 friends?

On Weezat, we do things a little differently. We don’t believe that anyone can have 500 real friends. Sure, you might have met that many people in your life time or have ‘friends’ from work on your social networks, but are they really your close friends?

Weezat is all about letting your closest friends know where you are and what you’re doing, which is why we limit your account to a maximum of 50 friends. These are the people that you trust, have a close relationship with and see on a regular basis. The sort of people that no matter where you were or what you were doing, you’d happily invite them to join you for a few drinks, no matter who you were with or where you were.

Would you really want that person you used to know at school (but never really liked...) seeing where you were or where you were going? Nope, didn’t think so.

What’s the difference between a friend and a top friend?

Friends are people that you want to have on your Weezat network that you consider to be a real friend. Top friends are the people you consider to be your best mates. So this might be your other half, relatives or mates you see all the time. You don’t have to add anybody as a top friend but it allows you to create a separate group of people if you wish to for when you want your invites to be a bit more selective.

How do I let my friends know where I am?

Every time you want to tell your friends which venue you’re in, you’ll need to send a Weezat.

For more information, check out the how to use Weezat.

How do I remove a friend from my account?

Simply go to the ‘friends’ tab within your user profile and select ‘remove friend’ or ‘remove top friend’ where appropriate. You can add somebody as a friend again if you change your mind...! FYI - When you remove a friend, they will receive a notification.

What’s a nudge?

Although Weezat is all about connecting you with your friends, we also think it’s great to meet new people. You can search for people in the areas you like going out in and drop them a nudge. We’ll let the recipient see your profile for 7 days and you can decide whether or not to meet up. We’ll even send the nudge via SMS! You can nudge someone from user search results or a user’s home page.

Your Weezat Home Page

My Weezat home page has nothing on it. How come?

This will generally occur when you’re new to the site and haven’t added any friends to your network or venues as favourites. Once you begin adding friends to your network, adding venues as favourites and planning nights out, you’ll soon begin to see your Weezat home page taking shape.

If I go out in different areas, how do I receive information about what’s happening?

When you register with Weezat you have the option of adding a Weezat post code in addition to your home post code to our system. This might be the area you go out in most (perhaps where you work or study). You will receive information from venues in these areas to your Weezat home page (and by email/SMS) in accordance with the ‘preferences’ settings in the ‘profile’ tab of your Weezat home page.

In addition to that, any venue you add as a favourite will send information to you (in your preferred format) which will also appear in your Weezat home page.

You can edit your Weezat post code by going into the ‘profile’ tab of your Weezat home page and changing it in the ‘address’ section.

How do I change my personal details?

Simply login to your account and click on the ‘profile’ tab from your Weezat home page. There you can change all of your personal details.

What’s the difference between my post code and my Weezat post code?

Your post code is associated to the area you live in. Your Weezat post code is another area that you select as the place  you go out in the most or particularly like (perhaps where you work or study).

You will receive information from venues in these areas to your Weezat home page (and by email/SMS) in accordance with your personal settings and preferences.

You can edit your home post code and Weezat post code by going into the ‘profile’ tab of your Weezat home page and changing it from the ‘address’ section.

What’s a nudge and how do I send one?

Although Weezat is all about connecting friends with friends we also think it’s great to meet new people. You can search for people in the areas you like going out in and drop them a nudge. We’ll let the recipient see your profile for 7 days and you can decide whether or not to meet up. We’ll even send the nudge via SMS! You can nudge someone from user search results or a user’s home page.

To send a nudge simply click on the nudge button next to anybody registered on Weezat.

Can I change my password?

Yes. You can change your password at any time by going to your Weezat home page, clicking the ‘profile’ tab and selecting ‘general’. Your password can be changed by typing in your new password and clicking ‘save’.

I’ve forgotten my password/username. How do I retrieve it?

You can retrieve your password by clicking on ‘forgot password’ from the login pop-up. Your username will be the email that you registered with when you joined Weezat. If you’ve forgotten which email you registered with, get in touch with us.

How do I adjust my settings to receive alerts and notifications about what my friends are doing?

You can edit your alerts and notifications from the ‘preferences’ section of the ‘profile’ tab in your Weezat home page.

How do I adjust the information I receive about venues in my post code area and Weezat post code area?

You can edit the information you receive from venues in your post code area and Weezat post code area from the ‘preferences’ section of the ‘profile’ tab in your Weezat home page.

I’m not receiving alerts/notifications from my friends. Why not?

Check that your preferences are set up correctly in the ‘preferences’ section of the ‘profile’ tab in your Weezat home page. If that’s not working then get in touch with us.

User Account

How do I create an account on Weezat?

You can register with Weezat for free by clicking on the login/register button on any page of Weezat.

How do I cancel my account with Weezat?

If you wish to cancel your account then let us know and we’ll remove your details from the website. Please note that any contributions you’ve made to the site may be retained after your Weezat account has been cancelled.

Will you share my information with other companies?

Not if you don't want us to. For more information about how we deal with your data, take a look at the Weezat Privacy Policy
